About the Group

Reliable, high‑quality mobile connectivity is essential for modern business, from day‑to‑day operations to adopting advanced technologies and driving growth.  5G represents a transformational leap in mobile technology, enabling faster data, ultra-low latency, and the foundation for innovative new uses like the internet of things and advanced automation.

Recognising the strategic importance of 5G for Suffolk's economic growth and competitiveness, the Suffolk Chamber launched the Suffolk Business Digital Champions Group in 2024.

Supported by local councils, planners and industry representatives, the group aims to raise awareness of the benefits of 5G, strengthen dialogue between mobile network operators and local authorities, and advocate for improved 5G and wider mobile infrastructure across the county - including along the critical A14 Growth Corridor.

Our Focus

The SBDC is dedicated to a number of priorities:

  • Helping Suffolk businesses understand, adopt and benefit from 5G technology

  • Supporting the rollout of greater mobile connectivity and 5G infrastructure across the county

  • Strengthening engagement between mobile network operators, planners, and local decision-makers to unlock connectivity across Suffolk

  • Showcasing how 5G can enable new technologies, smarter operations, and better customer experiences through case studies and site visits
