Testimonials

As the voice of business Suffolk Chamber of Commerce is passionate about contributing to the success of our members. But don't just take our word for it. Below you will find a sample of the many testimonials we have recently received from our members:

Developing Your Business Contacts and Relationships

Bill Ward
Director - Ward Trade Marks Limited

"It has been very valuable and rewarding being a member of the Suffolk Chamber and I do attend lots of the networking events – the only trouble is that it’s not good for the waistline going to all the breakfast and lunch networking sessions!

"Seriously though, I think that the Chamber is great and it is really run well and also extremely friendly. I have made lots of good contacts and gained business that has easily covered the costs of membership. I also now sit on the committee of the Suffolk Chamber in Newmarket & District."

Phil Aves
SCC Partnership Change Manager - Lowestoft Rising

"We are a partnership of the public sector rather than a business as such, but the benefits of being part of the Chamber are huge and the networking and event opportunities have been really helpful.

"I have to say that the email updates on what is happening etc are first-class and I always seem to know what is the next event. We are really pleased to be part of the Chamber."

Francis Pledger
Director - React Computer Partnership

“It is important to use the networking events and I can honestly say they do make a difference, which is proved by the fact of the number of clients we invoiced last year.”

Paul Copsey
Cost Management Consultant - Auditel

Chamber lunches are a friendly and relaxed opportunity to meet other Chamber members that ordinarily you would not, allowing you to establish and build upon useful relationships for the future. We have been fortunate enough to acquire new clients and have also engaged local suppliers through the same route.”

Stephanie Stansfield
Office Manager - Dummett Copp LLP

Chamber events offer great networking opportunities with a wide variety of like-minded business people in relaxed surroundings. There is never any ‘hard sell’ from anyone, and they really are a good way of developing business relationships. They are great value for money and have certainly helped to raise our profile in the area.”

Angela Wright
Admissions & Customer Service Manager - West Suffolk College

"From our perspective, working in partnership with Young Chamber has been a win-win situation.  Not only have we been able to generate income which we will use to further develop careers information, it also made the events more high profile than in previous years which ultimately benefits the students."

Stuart McBurney
Director - Filing Fortress

"The Suffolk Chamber event was so well organised and everyone was very forthcoming and helpful. I've realised these events could be very useful for our company Filing Fortress."

Rebecca Winn
Director - Winnthinking People Development

"I thoroughly enjoyed the format of the Suffolk Business Women event and met some terrific business women with whom I have further connected.

"Suffolk Chamber has made me most welcome since I joined six months ago, and I’ve been impressed with every event I’ve attended. Joining was an extremely good decision."

Developing Your Supply Chain

Tom McGarry
Head of Communications - EDF Energy New Nuclear Build

"EDF Energy is working closely with the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce to ensure local businesses have a good opportunity to be involved in the new nuclear supply chain. Businesses in Suffolk should use this time to get fit for new nuclear through the excellent support the Chamber provides. We have greatly valued the support, advice and hard work the Chamber has undertaken.”

Trevor Read
Sales Executive - Millar West

"Having worked closely with the Suffolk Chamber for a number of years and having witnessed the development of Suffolk B2B, we would highly recommend its use as a means to identify local business opportunities. Through the use of this platform it recently enabled us to win the contract to refurbish the Suffolk Chamber’s own offices.”

Marketing and Promoting Your Business

Francis Pledger
Director - React Computer Partnership

"Thanks to the Chamber for their advice on how we can, through our membership, publicise our company. We recently posted an article, which very quickly appeared, as well as being included in the Chamber’s e-newsletter that goes to all members and their key contacts. This is an effective and ‘cost effective’ (it’s free!!) way of getting your business news stories out there. It keeps our company in the public eye. Through the Chamber I am sure React is now more widely known and has a more positive image. We get far more from our Chamber membership than we ever imagined.”

Getting Your Voice Heard

Nicola Corbett
Communications Officer - EDF Energy New Nuclear Build

EDF Energy is working very closely with Suffolk Chamber, particularly in raising awareness of careers within engineering and the nuclear industry as a whole. The Chamber, as the voice of the Suffolk business community, gives us access to the key business leaders and decision makers in the County, invaluable for an organisation like our own, which needs to engage with stakeholders continually.”

Paul Davey
Head of Corporate Affiars - Hutchinson Ports

“Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has played an important role helping to shape local and regional transport priorities. Working as a member of the Chamber and through its Transport Committee has provided an influential route to lobby for improvements to the A14 and increase the capacity of the rail freight network.”

Supporting Your Business

David Driscoll
Owner - David Driscoll Painters and Decorators

“You have been very helpful since our first meeting. The Chamber has opened many doors, the best being leads and links to Suffolk businesses. So just in case I forget, many thanks to the Chamber.”

Louise Taghi
Practice Manager - Gross & Co

"The Employer Training Incentive Pilot (ETIP) is an excellent scheme and helps to improve workforce skills in the local area. Through ETIP we have been able to upskill an existing member of staff. This has reduced recruitment costs, improved staff retention, increased productivity through efficient working and reduced training time."

b2b Mentoring

Christopher Johnson
Mentor - Meritas International and Consulting

This scheme provides real benefit for individuals requiring guidance or advice on starting a company, business or indeed when they are considering changing the direction of a current enterprise. In a number of instances, the mentoring programme has developed into the client asking for additional support and help outside the programme which my company has been able to provide.”

Policy/Stakeholder Engagement

Rt Hon Matthew Hancock
MP for West Suffolk

“Suffolk Chamber of Commerce does a pivotal job in bringing together communities and businesses for the good of the local economy. I am pleased that they are doing all they can to promote 'The Shared Community'. This is the kind of project that Suffolk needs. Communities and business leaders know best how to strengthen the local economy.”

Rt Hon Dr Dan Poulter
MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich

“The Shared Community Campaign led by Suffolk Chamber has enabled business leaders to inspire one another by sharing ideas and examples of community engagement, collaborating to overcome common hurdles and highlighting the benefits of engaging with the community such as improved employee morale and retention. This is the first stepping stone towards helping bring businesses and communities together to build a better future for our county.”

Rt Hon Ben Gummer
MP for Ipswich

"Thank you for providing the opportunity to be able to talk to your members about the future for Ipswich and our Vision for the town."

International Trade

David Redhead
Chair - BSP International Foundations Ltd

“If you are an active exporter, or an aspiring exporter, then Suffolk Chamber International provides a great opportunity to meet new contacts, understand new markets and give you a sense of ease that you are not alone in the world of International Trade. Our company has made many long-term business acquaintances and the Chamber has been invaluable in helping us break into new overseas markets.”

Mark Newton
Managing Director - LMK Thermosafe Ltd

"Our company exports around 70% of its output and we joined the Chamber many years ago to help us with export documentation. Our export successes won us the Queens Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2012 and they continue to be the engine of growth for our business, despite a strengthening currency in recent months.

“I enthusiastically support the efforts of the Chamber in promoting exports of goods or services to businesses in the county and the strong local voice the Chamber represents on such matters as education and training, rural broadband and regional transport links.”

Nancy Farrall
Export Development Manager - Aspall

"Two Colleagues and myself recently went on an Export Documentation course. We each went for different reasons.

My first colleague had no knowledge of international freight, for an introduction into the industry they have found it very beneficial and has applied some of the information leant to their current role.

The second has order processing knowledge of international freight but needed a bit more in-depth knowledge. They walked away feeling a lot more confident about their role and really benefited from this course, it really helped to understand the basics.

For myself as a refresher course I found it extremely beneficial to see what may have changed in international freight and to re-look at how it may benefit the business if we changed certain processes.

Overall I highly rate the lecturer as knowledgeable and he kept it very interesting. I look forward to the next course I go on."
