Lowestoft Vision
Lowestoft Vision aims to make Lowestoft more secure, more attractive, more appealing and more accessible to those who live, work and visit. Lowestoft Vision is based within the Suffolk Chamber in East Suffolk offices, formerly Lowestoft & Waveney.
Lowestoft Vision is the heart of the town's commercial and cultural hub of shops, services, restaurants, markets, arts and heritage venues, parks, gardens and meeting places. As a Businesses Improvement District (BID) and organisation we pride ourselves on being business led and business focused with the aim of improving Lowestoft for our community, visitors and businesses.
Established in August 2013, following an official vote by local business to form the BID under the Local Government Act 2003, Lowestoft Vision is business led and business focused. As an organisation and company limited by guarantee, Suffolk Chamber of Commerce manages the BID with policies, projects and objectives being set by local business.
Lowestoft Vision works with local businesses and organisations to deliver a wide range of projects with the following objectives:
MORE SECURE: From January 2015 Lowestoft Vision, in partnership with Suffolk Constabulary, has part funded a dedicated PCSO for the BID area. The post is in addition to the Constabulary's current provision and will only patrol the BID area with Lowestoft Vision setting quarterly priorities for the PCSO. The radio scheme provides a perfect link between retailers, CCTV and Suffolk Police to enable us to provide a safe and secure environment.
MORE ATTRACTIVE: Improve the look of the town centre with Christmas lights, floral displays, and street decoration. Lowestoft Vision will be improving signposting and producing leaflets that ensure our visitors can discover what the town has to offer.
MORE APPEALING: Lowestoft Vision will organise events to encourage people into the town including markets and history/heritage trails. A town website will be developed to include all businesses in the BID area and will be linked with Lowestoft Vision's social media outlets.
MORE ACCESSIBLE: Lowestoft Vision will act as a lobbying group for the businesses in the town. Working with the local community groups, local authority and the police to negotiate car parking charges, car parking signage, road works, events, etc.
MORE INFLUENTIAL: Lowestoft Vision will influence decisions which impact on local businesses in the BID area. Working in partnership with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce we will lobby local authorities and other organisations on the issues which affect the town and BID area.
