Sizewell C Supply Chain Portal

"Butchers Bakers and Control Rod makers…"

Did you know that 80% of nuclear is non-nuclear? That 80% is the value of contracts placed relating to non-nuclear activities in relation to the build of Sizewell C. The opportunities for businesses in Suffolk and Norfolk and surrounding counties are considerable.

EDF Energy, through their nuclear new build operation, NNB GENCO, have come together with Suffolk and Norfolk Chambers of Commerce to create a trading platform allowing Tier 1 & 2 companies to easily engage with local SMEs.

www.sizewellcsupplychain.co.uk facilitates the link between buyer and provider of services and during the course of the project, will become the key signpost for businesses wanting information on how to benefit from this major project.

Typically Tier 3, 4 & 5 companies support larger business with nuclear new build experience in the delivery of these major civil engineering opportunities. The supplying of specialist paints, on-site services such as Occupational Health, IT support, Landscaping, Security, Catering and many other business categories all are essential for the project to run smoothly and to be sustainable into the future.

All companies wanting to get involved in the project must reflect a culture that demonstrates their intent to:

  • Provide a safe place to work for all their employees and look after the safety of others

  • Deliver their particular part of the project on time and in accordance with agreed quality and technical specifications

  • Follow and adhere to robust quality assurance standards and accreditations such as:

    Quality - ISO 9001 : 2008

    Safety - OHSAS 18001

    Environment - EN 14001

EDF’s Senior Procurement Specialists based at Hinkley and Sizewell are working with their respective Chambers of Commerce to assist local companies in improving their ability to meet EDF Energy’s exacting requirements and fulfil their potential when expressing an interest to get involved with nuclear new build opportunities. Socio-Economic Consultation will be followed by the requisite permissions being applied for and eventually work packages being advertised. Companies should take the time running up to this phase to prepare them for this exciting opportunity.
