Greene King is the country’s leading pub company and brewer. We have been brewing beer in Bury St Edmunds and selling it in our pubs since 1799. Over the past two centuries we have grown to become a cornerstone of the UK’s hospitality industry, operating 2,600 pubs, restaurants and hotels across England, Wales and Scotland. 

We employ more than 40,000 team members across the UK, with around 1,300 based in our home county of Suffolk. Our heartland remains as important as ever. Having been founded in Bury St Edmunds we have more than 200 years of rich heritage in Suffolk. In 2024, we announced a £40m investment in a new brewery in Suffolk Park, which is due to open in 2027.

We currently brew at our Westgate Brewery is situated in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. We are passionate about delivering our purpose to ‘pour happiness into lives’, and we aim to provide outstanding experiences and support for our customers, our team, our pub partners, our suppliers and the local communities in which we live, operate and serve.

Greene King has offices in Bury St Edmunds and Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire. The group encompasses three divisions: Greene King pubs, Destination Brands and Ventures, and Brewing & Brands. We are also one of the leading cask brewers in the UK. Our industry-leading portfolio includes Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen, Abbot Ale, Ice Breaker and Belhaven Best and our premium beers, Level Head and Flint Eye, brewed for the modern-day drinker.
