Peter is a Director of Oakmere Solutions Ltd, a central Suffolk based consultancy company which works extensively, but not exclusively in the UK heritage sector. Oakmere specialisms include activity and business planning, evaluation and the development of project proposals for funding by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other funding bodies.
Previously, Peter enjoyed a distinguished academic career including roles as a FE College Assistant Principal and as Executive Dean of Arts, Business and the Social Sciences, and Director of Enterprise at University Campus Suffolk (now University of Suffolk). He has published widely, including academic books and peer-reviewed papers and established an international reputation in the field of technology-supported learning. He has undertaken consultancies across Europe, in Australia and the Middle East alongside two BT research fellowships and a Visiting Teaching Fellowship at Murdoch University, Australia.
Peter was President of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce between 2010 - 2014 where he led a significant development of Chamber governance which has supported sustainable growth in subsequent years. He is a member of the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership Skills Advisory Panel and was independent chair of the Department for Education's post-16 Area Review of Norfolk and Suffolk in 2017. He holds other board positions including Chair of the Eastern Angles Theatre Company. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
