Second Suffolk school signs up to Young Chamber Plus
Sir John Leman High School in Beccles has become the second educational provider in the county to become a Young Chamber Plus member.
With over 1400 pupils, the school already had an excellent employer engagement programme and after being members of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce for many years its management team has enlisted the Chamber to help them further enhance their offer to pupils.
According to Ashleigh Seymour-Rutherford “Sir John Leman had been a Young Chamber member for a while. By upgrading their status to Young Chamber Plus, we can now offer them even more business-oriented support aimed at helping their pupils better bridge the gap between education and the world of work and boosting the senior management team’s business awareness.”
Head teacher Mike Taylor added “we look forward to working more closely alongside Suffolk Chamber to enhance our existing work with local employers as we recognise the value our business community can contribute to raising skills and aspirations of our students and also by providing them with a greater awareness of career opportunities that are available to them locally.”
Young Chamber Plus members are able to access a number of additional products from the Chamber’s suite of services including support in recruiting business governors, CV writing workshops for students, talks from local businesspeople and help in hosting careers fayres.
In the case of Sir John Leman, Young Chamber Plus is working with the school to put on a school entrepreneur event in November with spot light speakers, workshops and business-oriented challenges.
