New Chair Appointed as Suffolk Chamber International Trade Group Looks Ahead

The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Stuart Gregory, Managing Director, Wallis Shipping Services Ltd, as the new Chair of its International Trade Group, marking the next phase for the group as it continues to support Suffolk businesses trading internationally.

Stuart succeeds Trevor Scott, Managing Director, Simarco International Limited, who is stepping down from the role after serving as Chair for many years. During his tenure, Trevor played a pivotal role in the development of the International Trade Group, helping Suffolk businesses navigate international markets during a period of significant global change.

The Suffolk Chamber International Trade Group (SCITG) brings together businesses from across the county that are exporting, importing, or exploring new international opportunities. The group provides a forum for discussion, shared insight, and practical support, enabling members to learn from one another and stay informed about developments affecting global trade.

Koyas Miah, International Trade Manager at Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Stuart as the new Chair of the Suffolk Chamber International Trade Group. He brings valuable experience and insight at a time when international trade continues to evolve rapidly and presents both challenges and opportunities for local businesses. I would also like to sincerely thank Trevor for his many years of leadership and commitment to the group, which has helped shape a strong and supportive forum for Suffolk businesses trading internationally. With Stuart’s appointment, we are looking forward to building on this success and continuing to support members at every stage of their international journey.”

Trevor Scott Managing Director at Simarco International said:

“During my time chairing The International Trade Group with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, I have found the members who have attended to be engaging, inquisitive and willing to learn more about a variety of subjects.  Alongside the fantastic businesses that have hosted the events throughout Suffolk, this is testament to the entrepreneurial businesses that Suffolk Chambers represent, and I am proud to have been able to contribute, ensuring Suffolk businesses continue to look outward to expand their businesses.”

Stuart Gregory Managing Director at Walllis shipping services said:

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to take on the role of Chair and to work closely with the Chamber team and members to highlight the importance of international trade to the Suffolk economy. There is a strong foundation already in place through the International Trade Group, and I am keen to build on this by encouraging open discussion, sharing practical experience, and helping more businesses feel confident about trading overseas. At a time when global markets continue to shift, having a space where businesses can come together, learn from each other and stay informed is more important than ever.”

The Suffolk Chamber International Trade Group is open to Chamber members with an interest in international trade and supports businesses at all stages of their international journey. Alongside the work of the group, the Chamber also provides a range of international trade support and training designed to help businesses develop the skills and confidence required to trade internationally.

This includes practical training on key areas such as exporting, importing and international trade procedures. Businesses can find out more about the International Trade Group, upcoming activity and available training by visiting: https://www.suffolkchamber.co.uk/support/international-trade/
