Lowestoft and Waveney businesses: your chance to have a ‘SPIF-ing’ time
Local businesses are being urged to help shape the future delivery of new houses and businesses and road and rail network investments across the county at a Lowestoft event on 2nd February.
Suffolk Chamber of Commerce in Lowestoft & Waveney is hosting the event, called The Future Growth of Suffolk, at the OrbisEnergy Centre in the town as it is working closely with Suffolk County Council and the local district and borough councils on the development of a Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Framework or SPIF for Suffolk.
The SPIF will set out the direction of economic growth, housing development and infrastructure priorities up to 2050. New Anglia LEP and Greater Cambridgeshire Greater Peterborough LEP are also involved in this important work.
According to Michelle Gardner, events manager at Suffolk Chamber in Lowestoft & Waveney, “as the voice of business, Suffolk Chamber believes it is vital that local companies make their views known loudly and early on to ensure their requirements are understood and how infrastructure investment, economic development initiatives and housing growth can be aligned with these needs.”
The Future Growth of Suffolk event will comprise of a briefing on the SPIF before breaking into workshops where businesses can ask questions and make suggestions on a wide range of key themes.
“To help businesses prosper, we have to get the long-term investment in our infrastructure absolutely right. This event is the first opportunity for local firms to be part of the process that helps deliver the conditions needed to ensure our future prosperity” added Michelle.
