The Great East Run is returning to Ipswich on 16 September 2018

The event is required to be undertaken on the public highway, which commences in Russell Road outside both Ipswich Borough Council  and Suffolk County Council offices.

The event will require the following roads to be closed to enable the run to be undertaken, This will require some phasing of the road closure as detailed below:

The roads detailed below will be CLOSED from 0600 – 11:15 approx.

Constaine road, Chancery Road, Princess street, Friars bridge road, Civic drive, Elm street, King street, Museum street, Tavern street, Carr street, Northgate street, Upper brook street, Butter Market, Queen Street, Coytes Gardens, Friars Street, St Nicholas street, Falcon Street, Old cattle market, Dogs Head Street, St Stephens Lane, Lower brook street, Star lane, Foundation Street,Smart Street, Shire Hall Yard, Wingfield Street,  Lower Orwell Street, Fore Street, Tacket Street, Orwell Place, Upper Orwell Street, Eagle Street, Bond Street, Rope Walk, Grimwade Street, Key Street, Slade Street, College Street, Duke Street,  Fore Hamlet, Coprolite Street, University Avenue, Myrtle Road, Unity Street, Holywells Close, Cliff Lane, Draymans Way, Holywells Road, Patteson Road, Orwell Quay, Neptune Quay, Wherry Quay, Regatta Quay, Albion Wharf, St Peters Dock, Foundry Lane.

The road detailed below will be CLOSED from 06:00 to 14:00

Bridge Street, Dock Street, Stoke Quay, New Cut West, Bath Street, Hawes Street, Vernon Street, Rapier Street, Station Street, Wherstead Road, Grafton Way, Commercial Road, Princes Street, West End Road, New Cardinal Street, Chalon Street, Franciscan Way, Grey Friars Road, Cutler Street, Wolsey Street, Cecilia Street, Quadling Street, Portman Road, Sir Alf Ramsey Way.

The road detailed below will be CLOSED from 06:00 to 13:00

The Strand (B1456), Freston Hill (B1456), Freston Street, Unnamed road (Freston)

Palmer group assistance

When the event is in operation and the roads closed as per the times stated above, we will have the availability to allow public transport access / egress through section of the road closure up until 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the race at 10am.

At this point we will be required to commence an full closure with no access until such time as the event has passed and then section of the roads detailed will be open immediately to allow normal traffic flows.
