Lady Florence wins Suffolk Tourism Awards

At a prestigious Awards Ceremony at the Trinity Park at the Suffolk Showground, Lady Florence was named Winner of the People's Award for the Best Day Out in the 2009 EADT Suffolk Tourism Awards.

The Award is voted for by members of the public who write in to the EADT with their nominations.

John Haresnape says "This emphasises the loyalty and high esteem in which our customers hold us. Some of these customers have been regular supporters of the Lady Florence since she first started operating from Orford 25 years ago. One corporate customer had 50 private charters over a five year period, virtually one a month. We thank all of our customers for their support over the years, not least those who nominated us in the People's Award. We urge our customers to write in to the EADT Tourism Awards 2010 to ensure we continue our success".

This year's win follows the success in 2008, when Lady Florence was Winner of the Leisure and Recreation Award and Finalist in the People's Award. 2008 was the first year that Lady Florence entered.

Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant provides a not-to-be-missed fine-dining experience for visitors to Suffolk. Lady Florence is a 50ft ex-Admiralty historic wooden vessel taking a maximum of 12 passengers, cruising the calm waters of the Rivers Alde and Ore leaving from Orford Quay. She operates all year round, including Christmas Day, regardless of weather and tides. There is a cosy coal fire in winter.

The cruise covers the entire 10-mile length of the National Trust's Orford Ness site, circumnavigates RSPB's Havergate Island bird sanctuary, famous for its Avocet, with magnificent views of Orford's 11th century Castle and Wool Church and Aldeburgh and Shingle Street. There is an informative commentary provided.

Cruises include morning 3-course American-style Brunches, a la carte Lunches, Summer sunset Dinners and Autumn Sunset Cocktail Suppers. Your meal is prepared on board while you cruise, using fresh local produce from Orford's famous butcher and two smokehouses. A fully-stocked bar is available throughout the cruise, including quality South African wines which we import ourselves.

Brunch all year 9.30am to 12 noon Lunch all year 12 noon to 3.30pm Dinner April to Aug 4.00pm to 7.30pm Sunset Cocktails Mar/Sep/Oct 4.00pm to 6.30pm. Boarding time is 15 minutes before departure. Maximum number of passengers is 12.
