Screen Suffolk - Suffolk’s new county-wide film service

Screen Suffolk - Suffolk’s new county-wide film service

We’re on a mission to make Suffolk the most film-friendly county in the UK and in turn, get more film-makers and photographers to come here.

This activity can bring significant benefits to a region, so we want to bring these benefits to Ipswich and Suffolk!

We’re picking up momentum in Ipswich and have had filming and photoshoots taking place across the town.  A brownfield site was recently used by a production company in Ipswich, benefiting the owners to the effect of £1,000. Could your business or someone you know benefit from the opportunities on offer? Do any of the categories below apply to you or someone you know?

Register a location

Screen Suffolk are on the lookout for new Ipswich locations. We have lots requests for all sorts of locations; it’s not just manor houses and picturesque properties. From modern and sleek offices to industrial, gritty and run down locations, every day high street shops and street scenes. So no one should count themselves out. If you own or work at a location that you think might be of interest, get in touch! You can browse eisting locations on the website.

Production space is also invaluable, so if you have empty spaces, spare rooms or even regularly used rooms that could be booked for production space or areas of hard standing we would like to hear from you.

Register as a service of facilities supplier

Screen Suffolk list service and facilities suppliers on our website, from accommodation and catering to equipment rental and production services. This is publicly available, and allows film makers to see relevant businesses and companies in the region.

Register as cast or crew

Screen Suffolk encourage productions to crew up locally. We keep a database of cast and crew in the region, and when production companies have roles, we put forward everyone registered with a relevant skillset. The final decision falls to the production company, but Screen Suffolk will make sure you are considered.

Find out about training and career opportunities

Screen Suffolk are connected to several training providers. When we find out about opportunities, we want to pass them on to the people that care! Long term, we will source placements on set and make them available to young people in Ipswich who are looking to work in the screen industries.

To register with Screen Suffolk, please head to Screen Suffolk's website and click through to the relevant online form – and please spread the word to your own networks too!

Article by Ipswich Borough Council

Ipswich is one of the fastest growing urban centres in the east of England. We believe our town has a lot going for it and we are doing all that we can to attract more investment.

Major regeneration projects and developments continue to take place right across the town, including:

  • The Waterfront, the focus of the region's biggest single regeneration project worth in excess of £1billion;
  • The Education Quarter, with a rejuvenated Suffolk New College and the brand new University Campus Suffolk;
  • Plans for a £50million flood defence system;
  • The Westgate Centre in the town centre;
  • Major housing developments such as that on Ranelagh Road, linking to Ipswich Village with a brand new footbridge;
  • The continued development of the successful Ravenswood residential area;
  • The continued development of Ipswich's major business and industrial estate - Ransomes Europark.

We work to support Ipswich businesses, helping them to grow and succeed. We are pleased to work with our partners such as the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, Ipswich Central, the Haven Gateway Partnership and Regional Cities East to help Ipswich businesses and to promote the town.

The Council works hard to help residents, businesses and visitors benefit from Ipswich and all it has to offer. For example:

  • We manage sports services in the borough through Team Ipswich -;
  • We organise a popular annual arts festival -;
  • We run the Ipswich Regent theatre and Corn Exchange -;
  • We manage the Town Hall Galleries -;
  • We run a successful Tourist Information Centre in the town centre -;
  • We work with Colchester Borough Council through the Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service to manage Christchurch Mansion and Ipswich High Street Museum;
  • We deliver a comprehensive housing advice, benefits and managed tenancy service.
