Girls Football Scholarship Programme Announced
Inspire Suffolk are pleased to announce the launch of their very first Education and Football Scholarship programme for 16-18 year old girls.
On the back of the success of their current scholarship programme for boys and the continued development within the women’s game, Inspire Suffolk are keen to offer girls the opportunity to progress their academic development whilst receiving ‘elite’ coaching on a daily basis.
This brand new scholarship for girls will offer 16-18 year olds the chance to work towards a BTEC Level 3 Extended diploma in Sport (equivalent to 3 A Levels) whilst playing 11 a-side football at a competitive National level and train full-time with our professional coaches.
This programme, delivered by Inspire Suffolk, will challenge the girl’s academic capabilities and ensure the right level of support is available throughout each year. This new full-time course will run for two years, allowing the scholars to study using state-of-the-art computer platforms and to take part in valuable work experience opportunities with Inspire Suffolk and other relevant organisations associated with their individual career choices.
Each student will be enrolled through Virtual Learning UK and Colchester Institute for the duration of the programme and each of the girls will be based at Inspire Suffolk Head Quarters in Ipswich. The students will complete all elements of their education and training, utilising the fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities at Inspire, providing an all-round learning experience.
As a charity who work with young people Inspire Suffolk are also committed to the personal development of each of their students and provide extra-curricular opportunities for them to develop as ‘well-rounded’ individuals.
Programme Director Andy Crump explained "In addition to the girl’s academic studies we are pleased to be working with Suffolk FA to provide the best opportunities for students to progress within the women’s game and their club football. By having the best coaching available, pathways for the girls to progress and the great work the county FA are doing within women’s football, the programme will further enhance the girls and women’s game in the area as they move into U18’s football."
An open training and information evening will be held for any Year 11 girls wishing to carry on with their education whilst continuing to play the game they love when they leave school in the summer of 2016.
