Join Hollesley Bay’s prison Employment Advisory Board

‘HMP Hollesley Bay is situated on the Suffolk Coast and is a category D Prison (Open Prison).

It currently holds around 650 prisoners with an aim of preparing them for life back in the community.

Research shows that steady employment following custody has a significant positive impact on reducing reoffending and to this end Hollesley Bay aims to ensure the prisoners are upskilled and trained in qualifications which will enhance their chances of employment on release.

Employment Advisory Boards (EAB’s) were set up by Lord Timpson a number of years ago as a way of linking prisons with the commercial sectors. Hollesley Bay has a thriving EAB with members from a number of private businesses, civil service staff and local charities all of whom have a desire to help people turn their lives around.

Through sharing their expertise and experiences the EAB members have created fantastic opportunities for prisoners to change their futures for the better including training opportunities, employment opportunities and CV/interview practice.

Suffolk Chamber has a seat on the EAB for a business leader from its membership. This seat has recently become vacant.

If you think you could spare 2 hours once a quarter to join the EAB to represent the Suffolk Chamber as a conduit to its membership then please email hannah.sherman@suffolkchamber.co.uk in the first instance
