The EU’s new Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is here, and it’s changing how carbon-intensive imports are regulated.
If your business trades with the EU, you could be affected. Understanding CBAM now will help you stay compliant, avoid penalties, and keep your supply chain running smoothly.
🧾 What is CBAM?
CBAM is a carbon pricing mechanism introduced by the EU. It applies to goods imported into the EU that are produced using carbon-intensive methods such as:
-
Iron and steel
-
Cement
-
Aluminium
-
Fertilisers
-
Electricity
-
Hydrogen
UK businesses importing these goods (either directly or indirectly) may be required to report embedded emissions and purchase CBAM certificates.
The transition period has already started. Now is the time to act.
