West Suffolk businesses urged to hear about supply chain opportunities at US airbase
Suffolk Chamber of Commerce in Newmarket & District is hosting a unique chance for local businesses from a wide range of sectors to find out how they could profit from commercial opportunities at the US-run airbase at RAF Lakenheath.
Suffolk Chamber in Newmarket & District is hosting a breakfast networking event at the Riverside House hotel in Mildhenhall on 17th February at which Michael Hogan, Business Operations Director and Paul Mayes, Flight Chief for the Plans & Programs Flights at 48th Contracting Squadron at RAF Lakenheath will be speaking.
Michael and Paul will be exploring contracting opportunities with the US Government, looking at their basic policies, procedures and rewards as well as outlining the registration process which can be a stumbling block for many companies unaware of what is required of them.
Kayleigh Streeton, events coordinator at Suffolk Chamber, said “this event is based on the principle that being forewarned means you are forearmed. We want as many local businesses as possible, from as many sectors as possible, to take advantage of the many supply chain opportunities available at RAF Lakenheath and coming to this event will ensure attendees have an advantage of understanding the base’s needs and procedures.”
“Although RAF Mildenhall is due to close when the US Air Force leaves in 2023, the operation at RAF Lakenheath is set to expand. Last year nearly £15m of goods and services were procured for these two bases, so future prospects are likely to be as good in those to come.”
