The promise of the East? Suffolk Chamber helps British exporters break into a growing Asian market

Suffolk Chamber International, part of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a unique opportunity for local companies interested in breaking into the increasingly open Malaysian market.

Hosted at Suffolk Chamber’s Ipswich offices throughout 26 April, the day offers a number of 30 minute one-to-one sessions with Aurelia Silva, executive director of the British Malaysia Chamber of Commerce under the heading of Doing Business in Malaysia.

Aurelia is leading a Britain in South East Asia roadshow around the country and her appearance at Suffolk Chamber’s office will be the only chance for businesses to seek her advice in the east of England.

Jim Fanshawe, Suffolk Chamber International’s manager said “one of Suffolk Chamber’s four key business themes is promoting international trade. Suffolk Chamber International has used its influence to secure Aurelia’s unique expertise and I hope as many local businesses take this opportunity to book a half hour session with her to explore opportunities in the growing Malaysian market.

According Aurelia “With our diverse and vibrant market landscape, there are plenty of opportunities in Malaysia for British businesses. Financial technology & services, smart cities and infrastructure and education are some of the key growing sectors in the Malaysian economy.

“With the strong financial backing of the Malaysian government, driven by a vision of becoming a self-sufficient industrialised nation by the year 2020, companies from all sectors here are ready to adopt foreign investment and participation. Any UK- based companies that are keen to explore the potential of exporting your business or establishing a presence in Malaysia are welcomed to arrange an appointment with me.”

Doing Business in Malaysia will be held on 26 April, with half hour sessions available between 10am and 5pm at Felaw Maltings, Felaw Street, Ipswich IP2 8SQ. Places must be booked in advance and anyone interested in attending should go to: or call Rachel Cornes on 01473 694804
