Suffolk Scouts Equipping Young People with Skills For Life – County Team Manager Young Leaders Required

You are not alone, but part of a growing (and might I add an amazing) Programme team supporting each other and the Suffolk Scouts to embed a fun, rewarding, exciting, adventurous, youth shaped, challenging, quality programme!

As part of our County Programme Team you will head up our Young Leader (14-18 years old) provision across the county with close links with District Young Leader Managers.

All our activities are run by volunteers, who might join us because they want to:

·         Try something new

·         Make friends

·         Spend time with their children – or gain experience with young people

·         Do something good for their community and themselves

·         Keep their bodies and brains active and happy

All end up making a huge difference to young people's lives – gifting them with skills for life, and learning a whole lot about themselves along the way.

The role: You will have overall responsibility for supporting the county with particular emphasis on direction, strategy and ensuring an excellent programme is in place for districts and within groups. Working with  District section leaders you will ensure that new ways for delivering programmes are shared and implemented so top awards are earned by young people.

This is a voluntary role with training provision (which can be completed over three years). The time you allocate and when you allocate is flexible, the role doesn't require a regular time or place for example. This is fun, enjoyable and rewarding role which ultimately supports young people learning skills for life.

External recognition and your personal development: Once your training is complete as a Manager you are eligible to join the Institute of Leadership and Management as an associate member. You can become a full member if you have other management qualifications or experience, which includes three years' further experience in your Scouting role. As a member you are entitled to use the post-nominal letters AMInstLM or MInstLM.

About you: Team and people management skills preferred. A good communicator with lots of enthusiasm. A knowledge of Scouts is not required. Passionate about supporting young people to get a head start in life.
