Protect Duty Consultation

Protect Duty Consultation

“In response to multiple attacks and subsequent public enquiries, the UK has launched an 18 week consultation period on the “Protect Duty”. It is proposed that this duty will provide legislation to promote Counter Terrorist (CT) protective measures in publicly assessible locations (PALs) and will place an emphasis on site operators and Local Authorities to ensure that suitable, proportionate CT measures are in place to protect the public.

This 18 week consultation period gives you the opportunity to pass comment on the proposed duty and how it may be implemented. It will allow you the chance to shape the outcome of the duty and how it will be imposed. It is therefore imperative that you take the opportunity to read the attached consultation document and provide your comments.

If you are responsible for a location with multiple tenants, please could you ensure that this email is passed on to all of the business operators, however big or small.

Responses must be submitted by the 2nd July 2021. You do not have to copy in your responses to us (ctsa@norfolk.police.uk) but you may do so if you wish to.”

To consultation document can be downloaded here.
