Haverhill based Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credits specialists, Fiscale Ltd, has recently appointed a new member of the New Business Development team. Pauline Prockter, who lives in Hundon, is the latest person to join Fiscale’s growing team. Pauline is an experienced business advisor, coach and mentor with a career spanning over thirty five years. She spent twenty one years with Barclays Bank progressing through various departments and culminating in a management position. On leaving Barclays Pauline joined Business Link as a business advisor helping clients access finance and growth and innovation grants. In 2012 Pauline moved to Pera Consulting Ltd to work on the Growth Accelerator programme, latterly known as The Business Growth Service. In this role Pauline provided high growth businesses with consultancy and coaching to help stimulate further development. The support offered covered many different areas including bringing products to market and intellectual property. Pauline’s new role is to assist Fiscale with new business development. Pauline will draw upon her many years of experience building relationships with SMEs and providing advice and support on accessing grants and funding to help raise awareness of R & D Tax Credits in the Eastern Region. According to the latest Research and Development Tax Credits Statistics report published by HMRC in September 2016 the number of claims under the Small Medium Enterprises (SME) R&D Tax Credits scheme in 2014-2015 increased by 16% to 18,630. Despite the increase there are still thousands of businesses who are unaware of the scheme and its benefits. Pauline comments, “There are still far too many SMEs who have either never heard of R & D Tax Credits, believe the scheme sounds too good to be true or think it is just too complex to bother doing. I am on a mission to change these perceptions and to help businesses throughout East Anglia understand the eligibility criteria and what is involved in submitting a claim. In three years Fiscale have built a client base of over 150 businesses all of which have benefitted from R & D Tax Credits relief. As a result of a successful claim these companies have been able to invest money into further research and development, recruit additional staff, purchase new plant and equipment and in one instance move to larger premises. I am enjoying promoting such a positive message.” Fiscale was established in 2014 by John Mayhew and Stephen Bunting. Fiscale now employs a team of fourteen full time staff and works with a number of external consultants who provide a range of outsourced services.
