Business Spotlignt to Shine on Bury St Edmunds

Business Spotlignt to Shine on Bury St Edmunds

This will be the tenth consecutive year local solicitors, Atkins Thomson have sponsored the MENTA Business Show which is being held at the Apex, Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday 2nd October from 9am until 4.30pm.

Rob Dellow, director of Atkins Thomson  is based at their Nowton office. He specialises in business and property matters and is renowned for his genuine interest in his clients and their business enterprises. He commented, "I’m looking forward to meeting with business owners, both exhibitors and visitors and celebrating all that is good about building a business in Suffolk."

The MENTA Business Show will include a fantastic line up of innovative and creative business exhibitors. 75 businesses will showcase their goods and services both inside on the first floor of The Apex and outside in Charter Square. The event is free to attend and is a great place to network and meet potential suppliers and clients. Visitors will receive a free goody bag containing samples and vouchers, including a gift from St Peter’s Brewery.

MENTA has invited a number of influential business owners to speak during the day in The Apex Auditorium. Gerald Ratner is a businessman whose fall from grace was one of the most spectacular. He took over as CEO of the family jewellery chain in the mid-80s, becoming one of Britain's best-known businessmen. He transformed it from 130 stores with sales of £13m, to a public company with 2,500 stores and sales of over £1.2bn.

Following a high-profile gaffe, he was forced to sell the business. Ten years later he started again, and he will speak in his humourous and erudite manner on his mistakes about the rollercoaster journey and the valuable lessons learned.

Gerald Ratner's talk will be followed by informal business networking and brunch on the stage at The Apex.

Broadcaster, Nick Pandolfi will host ‘Talking Heads’ will be in conversation with  Jesse Quin, of rock band Keane and founder of Old Jet, the creative hub at Bentwaters, Jason Carter MD of HOAX the Suffolk clothing company, designer Brie Harrison and Peter Hampel of EdenLAB.

The innovative and creative entrepreneurs will discuss how they’ve built their businesses and brands.
