Ashtons Road Transport Briefing
Ashtons Legal are pleased to announce their next Road Transport Briefing, this time at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford on Thursday 21st November 2019.
The full programme of external and internal speakers will be announced shortly, but the first three speakers can be revealed and are:
Richard Turfitt, Senior and East of England Traffic Commissioner will be attending for a Q&A session covering all aspects of operator licencing.
David Wood, the Enforcement Policy Manager at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (“DVSA”). The DVSA are updating their maintenance investigation, and David will be discussing how they conduct them, what they look for and when cases will be referred to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
Sally Gilson, Head of Skills at the Freight Transport Association, considering the significant driver shortages in the sector, apprenticeships and future skills needs.
The remainder of the programme is subject to change, but organisers plan to include:
- Operator licensing
- Brexit update
- Employment law (including driver employee status)
- Contract disputes & debt collection
- The law of driverless goods and passenger vehicles.
The event is aimed at directors, business owners, consultants and transport managers and those whose role includes employment and regulatory compliance. All representatives from the road transport and logistics industries, whether operating in the goods or the passenger sector, are welcome.
