PKF has the recipe for success
Celebrated author Philip Pullman and East Anglian accountancy firm PKF are cooking up a storm with the launch of a charity recipe booklet.Compiled by PKF Great Yarmouth trainee business adviser Anna Merrifield (24), Cooking With Friends features a star recipe from the children's fiction writer - whose Northern Lights novel is the basis of fantasy blockbuster The Golden Compass - as well as many contributions from PKF staff. All money raised from sales of the booklet will go to Suffolk's St Nicholas Hospice, based in Bury St Edmunds. The cookbook is just one initiative in a fundraising drive to realise £2,000 for the hospice through the Iceland Trekking Challenge, which Anna's mum Denise is undertaking in July.Anna explains: 'We sat down and brainstormed ideas for raising funds. I love cooking so creating a book of recipes seemed the perfect way forward.' Famous author Philip is related to the family and he donated a recipe for one of his favourite dishes - Spicy Lamb Rice Thing.'I was pleased to be able to contribute a recipe for this book,' reveals Mr Pullman. 'I was very glad to hear about the Iceland trek, and even more glad to know that it's for such a good and worthy cause. I hope everyone who takes part has a great time and that the hospice benefits greatly from their endurance and efforts.'Anna printed her cookbook at PKF's offices courtesy of her bosses at the company. Michael Muskett, regional partner in charge at PKF East Anglia comments: 'It shows a great deal of initiative to take on a fundraising project like this and we are all happy to support Anna in her efforts. In fact, I think most people at PKF have bought a copy, it has certainly proved popular.'
