Hospital garden gets a make over, thanks to young team

Local young people in Ipswich have been getting to grips with gardening, with the help of Peter Chapman resident groundskeeper at Heath Road Hospital. The team of young people from Inspire Suffolks 'Team programme' took on the challenge to brighten up flower beds and renovate the garden furniture at the hospital’s garden.

The garden is used by the patients at the elderly unit. Thanks to the hard work and dedication put in by the young people from the Team programme, they now have, renovated furniture and a more colourful garden to enjoy whilst they convalesce. The Team programme is run in conjunction with The Prince’s Trust for young people who are not in education, employment or training.

Assistant Team Leader for Inspire Suffolk, Heather Egan said of this latest project in the town, “We are extremely grateful to Peter for his help and guidance. Our Team students also raised over £200 with fundraising initiatives including car wash, bake sale, gaming tournament and golf day.
