Floating on air

PKF East Anglia marked this year's World Kidney Day with a mass balloon release outside Ipswich Hospital's Renal Unit. Staff from the unit turned out to support the event, organised by PKF Ipswich partner David Merrygold. It's a cause close to his heart as he received a kidney from his wife Barbara, in a transplant in March 2002.The windy weather did its part too, lifting the balloons high into the sky as they were freed from their net. 'There are thousands of people on the waiting list for a kidney transplant but less than a third of them receive one,' says Mr Merrygold. 'Today's event is about drawing attention to the issue. The balloon release was successful and I hope that through it we are successful in raising awareness among the general public of kidney disease.'
