Cheque To Children’s Charity
Cheque To Children’s Charity
A Newmarket-based graphics design company has raised £2,000 for children in the region who are living with life-threatening conditions.
Cubiqdesign, which also publishes Velvet Magazine and IQ Magazine, has handed over a cheque to East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH) after raising the cash at its annual Business Awards held in October.
More than 300 businesses attended the awards at a glittering ceremony held in the grounds of Dullingham Polo Club, which successfully brought together the cream of local businesses in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
EACH, which has hospices in Milton in Cambridgeshire, Ipswich and Quiddenham in Norfolk, raises money to care for children with life-limiting conditions and supports their families with a range of services.
The charity, whose patron is HRH, the Duchess of Cambridge, provides overnight short breaks for children, day care and music therapy as well as end-of-life and bereavement support to family members.
Nikki Brown, from EACH, who attended the Cubiqdesign awards and gave a short talk about the charity’s work, said EACH was dependent on donations and without support from individuals and businesses, such as Cubiqdesign, it would not be possible to help as many children as they did each year.
“We are absolutely delighted that Cubiqdesign has supported EACH through its Business Awards 2012. The money raised is so valuable to us to continue to help local children and their families. With support such as this we can aim to reach out to more children who can benefit from EACH services. £2,000 is enough to fund 54 sessions of music therapy at our hospices in the child's home. Music therapy is vital to the care of the child. It helps with pain management and emotional support. It is also an important for bereavement support for mums, dads, siblings and extended family and friends. So thank you for enabling this care. We simply couldn't do it without the support of the local community.”
The business awards provided Cubiqdesign with a fantastic opportunity to not only connect with local businesses but to show its support and encouragement to business owners, many of whom have experienced difficult trading conditions during the last 12 months.
John Treby, who owns Cubiqdesign with his wife Gemma, said the company’s Business Awards were a huge success and being able to support EACH made the whole event very special for everyone involved.
“I’m delighted that not only have we been able to bring the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire business community together to really support locality but to also raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices makes it all worth while. Personally we’d like to thank everyone who attended and helped support the charity.”
