Apprenticeships take centre stage for Cambridge Regional College

Apprenticeships will be taking centre stage at the Cambridge News Job Fair this week for sponsor Cambridge Regional College.

The college will be showcasing its current vacancies to jobseekers at the fair on Wednesday, 21 January and offering practical advice on applying for jobs and CV-writing – giving them a head start when it comes to snapping up the perfect job.

With new research showing the economy gaining £21 for every £1 spent on apprenticeships, on-the-job training is proving a great choice for employers and would-be apprentices.

Angela Hughes, head of apprenticeship programmes at Cambridge Regional College, said: “We’re delighted to sponsor the Job Fair again. It is a great showcase for the opportunities available to job-seekers in the region and we will have current apprenticeship vacancies on offer as well as details of professional training programmes which can boost career prospects.

“Apprenticeships are available at intermediate, advanced or degree level, and are a great route into work for people ready to take their first steps on to the career ladder or looking to change their jobs.

“They also provide employers with a well-trained workforce for the future, giving them the skilled individuals they need to boost productivity and growth.”

CRC is sponsoring the Job Fair for the third year running, highlighting its position as one of the leading providers of apprenticeship programmes in the country – praised by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg as a model for the rest of Britain.

Research from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills shows the benefits to business of hiring apprentices - a high percentages of employers report improved product and service quality (72 per cent), enhanced productivity (68 per cent) and increased morale and organisational reputation after taking on apprentices.
