The fragility in Suffolk’s economic recovery has been highlighted in the latest figures from Suffolk Chamber of Commerce’s Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) – although optimism is growing for a more prosperous future in the longer-term.

The impact of Covid 19 has been significant on Suffolk’s businesses and our local economy and as we re-open, we must all - residents, the public sector, and businesses - do our part to control the virus and prevent the spread.
As part of their response to the Covid 19 pandemic Suffolk’s Public Sector Leaders established the Suffolk Inclusive Growth Investment Fund (SIGIF), totalling £1.65m with contributions from Suffolk’s pooled business rates and New Anglia LEP.
The fund is open to projects which address the significant impact of COVID 19 on Suffolk’s businesses, employees, and our local economy. Projects must be sponsored by either a Suffolk local authority and/or NALEP.


The Sizewell C Consortium, a collection of more than 200 leading companies and organisations from across the country, has pledged £4.4bn of investment in the East of England, including £2bn in Suffolk.


As a businesswoman operating in the recruitment space and as Chair of Suffolk Business Women ensuring equality is very much part of our MD, Michelle Pollard’s, DNA. “So many companies across the country embraces equality and diversity so well and yet organisations like Suffolk Business Women still have to exist because yes, this is still an issue. More and more companies accept that they do have to change the way that they attract female candidates into certain roles and sectors” says Michelle.


Nearly 300 businesses took full advantage of a webinar last week (3 March) to better understand the local commercial opportunities on offer from Suffolk County Council’s £126m Gull Wing project in Lowestoft.
