Suffolk Businesses Urged to Contribute to UK Government Call for Input on US Tariffs

The UK Government is inviting input from British businesses on its proposed response to newly introduced US tariffs. The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses to take this opportunity to ensure their voices are heard.

While the Government is currently prioritising discussions on a future UK–US economic partnership agreement and is not seeking to impose retaliatory tariffs at this stage, Ministers are keen to understand what the impact could be if tariffs were introduced on a range of US imports.

This Call for Input is a crucial step in shaping future trade decisions—and your insight could directly influence policy.

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) will be submitting a collective response on behalf of the Chamber Network. As part of this process, we are seeking evidence and feedback from businesses across a range of sectors, including:

  • Chemicals

  • Food and Drink

  • Metals and Metal Products (including steel, copper, iron, aluminium)

  • Household Items (tableware, bottles, etc.)

  • Automotive (vehicles, parts, tyres, motorcycles)

  • Construction & Manufacturing Goods

  • Oils and Fuels

  • Energy & Power Generators

  • Industrial Products

  • Furniture and Flooring

  • Clothing and Textiles

  • Pharmaceuticals and Semiconductors

We are particularly interested in understanding which products are critical to your business and should be excluded or face reduced tariffs in any potential future negotiations.

📩 Please send your input to:
international@suffolkchamber.co.uk
🗓️ Deadline for submissions: Friday 25 April 2025

This is a vital opportunity for Suffolk businesses to influence trade policy and ensure their needs are considered in future UK - US trade relations.

Let’s ensure Suffolk’s voice is part of this national conversation.
