Suffolk Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New President at 140th AGM
Suffolk Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the appointment of Nick Evans, UK Site & Sales Director Treatt, as its new President. Announced at the 140th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 25 June RC Treatt, Bury St Edmunds, with a strong attendance and participation from its members. Evans succeeds Catherine Johnson, a Partner at law firm Birketts LLP, who has concluded her tenure after two years of dedicated service.
The AGM opened with a welcome note from Chamber Chief Executive, John Dugmore, who highlighted that ‘the Chamber’s focus remains fully on the needs of the members and the local business community’.
John Dugmore went on to acknowledge the presence of members and board of directors, and took the opportunity to welcome a number of newly appointed board members, including the new Vice President, Matt Moss, SMART Modular Buildings and new board members, Marlini Finney, Chief Operating Officer and Company Secretary at St Elizabeth Hospice and Doug Field, Chief Executive Officer at East of England Co-Op. John also extend heartfelt gratitude to Ginny Idehen, Jim Moretta, and Paul Briddon for their dedicated service as board directors of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. Their contributions have been invaluable, and we thank them for completing their full terms with commitment and excellence.
Nick Evans brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership in the business community. As the UK Site & Sales Director at Treatt, an innovative ingredients manufacturer with a global footprint, Evans has demonstrated exceptional skills in strategic development, operational excellence, and fostering business growth. His expertise is expected to guide Suffolk Chamber in continuing its mission to support and enhance the local business environment.
“I am honoured to take on the role of President of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce,” said Nick. “Catherine has set a high standard with her unwavering dedication and impactful initiatives. I look forward to building on her legacy and working closely with our members to address the challenges and opportunities facing Suffolk’s business community.”
Catherine has been an exemplary leader during her term as President. Her tenure has been marked by significant accomplishments, including the strengthening of the Chamber’s advocacy efforts, the launch of several key initiatives to support local businesses, and a commitment to fostering a resilient and sustainable business environment in Suffolk.
Reflecting on her time as President, Catherine said, “It has been a privilege to serve as President of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. I am proud of what we have achieved together, and I am confident that Nick will continue to drive the Chamber forward. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Chamber team, our members, and the wider business community for their support and collaboration.”
John, expressed his gratitude to Catherine and welcomed Nick. “Catherine’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing the Chamber’s goals and supporting our members through challenging times. We are excited to welcome Nick, whose vision and expertise will undoubtedly benefit the Chamber and its members. We look forward to a new chapter under his leadership.”
As part of the AGM, members had an exclusive presentation from renowned speaker Dr Nicola Millard from BT Group who shared insights into hybrid working, the future and technology in the workplace.
