Local Government Reorganisation: A Defining Moment for Suffolk’s Future

The Government has now opened consultations on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Suffolk – the biggest shake-up of our local government landscape in 50 years. LGR will determine how councils are structured and how local decision-making and vital services are organised across the county. The two models being considered could fundamentally reshape how businesses interact with local authorities for decades to come.

Suffolk Chamber has already set out our core principles we believe any successful reform must deliver to create a system that is efficient, transparent, and future-ready. You can read these principles here.

With the consultation now open, this is an important moment for Suffolk businesses to help shape the county’s future. We encourage members to review the proposals and submit views directly via the Government website here.

Suffolk Chamber will be submitting our own response shortly. To ensure the voice of the business community is fully represented, members are warmly invited to share early thoughts or questions with us at [email protected] ahead of our formal submission.
