6-month cuts to judicial review for nationally significant infrastructure projects
The UK Government have announced that nationally critical infrastructure projects delayed by judicial review will move through the court system around 6 months quicker under new proposals to work with the judiciary. Sizewell C, the Suffolk-based nuclear power project providing 10,000 jobs and 1,500 apprenticeships was held up by two judicial reviews which were ultimately dismissed by the courts. 34 infrastructure projects have been delayed by judicial review since 2008, often by more than a year, although only 4 of these were upheld.
