Back to work after absence

Returning to work after a long absence

Employees returning to work after a long absence are more likely to work safely and productively if they are fully supported during their absence and on their return.  Returning individuals may need to prioritise themselves to sustain their health while they readjust to work.  Managers and colleagues can help returning employees by making work adjustments and offering support, while flexible absence management and rehabilitation policies can help to accommodate individual needs.  Support may be in providing new equipment or a different work environment.  It may require a change in contracted activities, working hours/shifts, or even just understanding.
