We are pleased to be part of Suffolk's exceptional business community. Recently, we participated in celebrating #Suffolkday and played a significant role in selecting the recipients of the Suffolk Medal, which recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions and have had a lasting and beneficial impact on the county. Congratulations to Rebecca Crerar, CEO of Suffolk Refugee Support, and Dr. Jonathan Adnams OBE. We are regularly reminded how Suffolk's business leaders, individuals, and businesses exhibit a powerful force for good.
As the voice of Suffolk business, we take pride in providing our members and the wider business community with support, guidance, and information. Suffolk is an excellent place to do business, offering a perfect combination of crucial resources, strategic connections to ports, airports, and London, affordable facilities, and an exceptional quality of life. We cover all aspects of business development and growth, from networking opportunities and training to business support, awareness, and advocacy.
Our policy and lobbying efforts are an essential aspect of our public affairs and advocacy activities, bringing together professionals and stakeholders from all over Suffolk to address challenges and opportunities across Suffolk. We lobby local councils and the government on crucial issues such as the economy, people & skills, trade, and the environment, and other business priorities.
One critical area that has garnered much attention is the tireless work that the Chamber has been undertaking on Transport & Infrastructure in Suffolk, including the A14, water usage, Haughley junction, East:West rail, and 5G. The upgrade of the A14 is necessary to unlock the region's potential, and the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has been instrumental in lobbying the government and stakeholders for this upgrade for many years. The work on other essential projects like Junction 55, alongside Transport East, has received support from the government and local communities. We are working with Jo Churchill MP and others to continue our lobbying efforts, and the A14 Growth Corridor Group convened this month to assess progress.
We are committed to creating a platform for Suffolk businesses to shape the economy for the better, giving companies a space to be inspired, the support to grow, and a sense of belonging for every business.
