Barefoot & Gilles majors in housing, both open market and housing association and we have strong links with a range of developers and RSLs. Our portfolio also includes hotels and leisure complexes, health and care including GP Practices, residential care homes and hospices, commercial/office/warehouse and retail and mixed use projects. Project size ranges from £0.5m up to £50m+.
A good Planning Consent is the key to successful development. Barefoot & Gilles favours a negotiation approach to planning, but we don’t shy away from a good opportunity for our clients. We will pursue any proposal vigorously on behalf of our clients to obtain a positive result.

Barefoot & Gilles routinely build to level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and are experienced in a range of Modern Methods of Construction.
In response to a specific need to ensure management of Cost in Use in the development of new generations of sustainable affordable housing, Barefoot & Gilles developed the GreenGauge Homes approach. The first GreenGauge Homes scheme is a Constructing Excellence Demonstration Project and is monitored by the University of East Anglia; others are under construction.
The practice is highly technically competent and we provide services for many of the major construction companies. Our experience with Housing Associations’ stringent requirements enables us to help all developers meet regulatory requirements in a cost effective, practical way.
