Award Criteria

The Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Award acknowledges and celebrates an apprentice’s/trainees exceptional contribution to their workplace.

To be nominated for this award the candidate must be currently undertaking an apprenticeship/training programme in an organisation within Lowestoft & Waveney.

Evidence needs to show that the applicant has demonstrated to their employer:

  • Their inspirational qualities through commitment to their own personal development
  • How they make outstanding contributions to their workplace
  • Meet or exceed expectations of their employer
  • Make suggestions/contributions towards business improvement
  • Show a high level of achievement and attainment in learning and work

East Coast College
are delighted to be sponsoring the

The professional and technical training and skills landscape has made an exciting step forward in the East of England through the merger of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Colleges to form East Coast College (ECC).

East Coast College prides itself on its ability to better equip students for university, an apprenticeship and their profession:  through the development of soft skills, character and attitude, combined with top quality technical and professional training, ECC really is focused on turning a ‘passion to a profession’.

ECC is a partner college of the University of Suffolk, offering degrees and HNDs to local adults wishing to develop or start a new career. And for those returning to education, the college has a host of Access courses that provide the all-important spring board and study skills to start a degree.

Award Criteria

This award is open to any companies, charities or volunteer groups irrespective of size or sector who are actively engaged in putting something back into the local community to make Lowestoft & Waveney a prosperous area.

The winner of this award will be able to clearly demonstrate and provide evidence of how they support and work with their local community - building relationships with residents, schools and/or community groups, either by helping to increase the employment opportunities for local people, providing training or re-training, support groups, donating used equipment, helping to renovate parks, clearing up rubbish, donations or sponsorship of local causes – the list is endless.

Entrants are asked to provide evidence of the following:

  • How your company practices good citizenship.
  • Your commitment outside of normal business practice to local people, places or events that is not aimed directly at improving your own business profit, but the quality of life in the local community.
  • What the impact your work has on the local community.

By doing so they could receive the Community Pride Award.

EDF Energy Sizewell C are delighted to be sponsoring the Enterprise in Education Award

Energy drives development, which is why the UK is committed to developing a low-carbon system that makes sure enough energy is available, affordably.

By 2030, many of the UK’s power stations are expected to close and will need to be replaced to ensure there is enough electricity supply to meet the demands of homes and businesses.

Sizewell C would be one of the biggest and most technologically complex construction projects ever built in the UK, generating locally apprenticeships, jobs, and business and skills opportunities.

Award Criteria

Eligibility includes: All schools, colleges and training providers in Lowestoft and Waveney currently developing the skills of their students and learners towards future success within the workplace.

The Enterprise in Education Award will recognise an organisation that has the student’s future at its heart. It will maximise its STEM delivery through innovation which will ultimately provide them with a rich and varied career pathway. The successful organisation will provide evidence of reaching outside the classroom to enhance, enrich and embed curriculum making links with business, creatively supporting students to relate their learning to the real world of work.

Examples of evidence are to include:

  • Linkage with employers
  • Working with other schools / colleges / universities
  • Linkage with the community
  • Projects delivery incorporating STEM and work related soft skills
  • Outlining activities that raise student aspirations
  • How the learning experience encourages students entrepreneurial spirit

Pleasurewood Hills are delighted

Entrants are asked to provide a brief summary of their business and show evidence of:

  • How they go above and beyond customer expectations, ensuring that everything that the company does has the customer at its core
  • Processes in place to train and monitor their team to ensure continual improvement in customer care
  • How they deal with customer care issues and evidence of positive response
  • How they set targets for customer care and service and does everyone in the company understand how their individual actions impact on these targets

Evidence could include examples of customer testimonials, feedback and evaluation.

Lowestoft Vision was founded in August 2013 after businesses in the town voted yes to forming a Business Improvement District (BID). The yes vote meant that businesses agreed to pay an additional 1.5% levy of their rateable value with the funds being ring-fenced for projects in the BID area.

In April 2018, businesses were once again asked to vote for the continuation of Lowestoft Vision for another 5 years and we are pleased to announce a successful yes vote. For the next five years we will continue working on all the projects offered in the business plan. Some of these projects are listed below.

Award Criteria

This award is open to all sector businesses who employ over 11 members of staff and have a strong customer-focused ethos, a company that strives to improve customer service or does something different for their clients.

Entrants are asked to provide a brief summary of their business and show evidence of:

  • Key points of their customer care policy

ABP Ports are delighted to be
