Paul is a consultant at Auditel, based in Felixstowe, who specialise in delivering ongoing cost management solutions to their clients. Paul has 25 years’ experience in Sales and Customer Service Management and is a member of the Auditel Franchise Advisory Council.
Having lived in Ipswich all his life Paul has a genuine passion for the Town and is dedicated to seeing its true potential reached for the benefit of all.
Amanda Ankin has worked for Suffolk Chamber since 2010 and is our Operations Director.
As part of the senior management team, Amanda manages various departments of Suffolk Chamber including events, membership and customer care, communications, marketing, policy, supply chain, and international trade, and her team is based all across Suffolk.
CIPD qualified, Amanda is the lead on HR and change initiatives. Amanda also manages various Suffolk Chamber project teams including our business improvement district Lowestoft Vision and Suffolk Business Women, and sits on all our town Boards.
Paul Ager is a General Manager – East Coast working for Associated British Ports. Based at the Port of Ipswich, he is responsible for all 3 East Anglian Ports, Ipswich, Kings Lynn and Lowestoft which ABP owns and operates.
Paul joined ABP in June 2016 having previously spent more than 14 years of leadership experience in Logistics, Supply Chain and the Construction sector, having held various regional operational leadership roles driving cross-functional teams to deliver high levels of customer service across the UK. Being born and bred in Suffolk Paul has a special relationship with the local area, Ipswich in particular. With his role at ABP Ipswich and the Greater Ipswich Board he is looking forward to contributing to the local businesses and organisations in the town.
Richard is a driven and successful Operations and Change Director with nearly 35 years’ experience in the Insurance industry in a wide variety of roles.
After originally training as a Certified Accountant, Richard moved on to take on wider operational, people management and client facing roles. Richard has a history of strong strategic and operational leadership, with significant experience and success managing people, budgets and business transformation, across multiple locations.
Currently Head of the Willis Towers Watson (“WTW”) Accounting & Settlement (A&S) function and Chair of WTW Ipswich Management Group, Richard has wide-ranging responsibilities. The current roles include overseeing all A&S operations, meeting challenging financial targets, leading ongoing change activity and promoting the development of the WTW Ipswich office and people.
In addition to the WTW roles, Richard is Chair of part of Local, London Market and Global initiative Steering Groups, the current President of the Insurance Institute of Ipswich, Suffolk and North Essex and a Suffolk Business Ambassador.
Suffolk born and bred, married with two grown children, Richard remains keen to promote the county as a great place to live and work.
Viv Gillespie is the Principal and CEO of Suffolk New College, the further education college for Greater Ipswich. Viv is a member of the Greater Ipswich Chamber Board, and leads on the Young Chamber initiative. Viv is also a director of Ipswich Central, and is a member of the University of Suffolk’s Board. These appointments enable a strong contribution to the skills agenda, which is so crucial to the economic development of the area.
Amy Guest is a Senior Associate at Birketts LLP where she specialises in employment law. Amy currently works for a range of local businesses at Birketts. Prior to joining Birketts, Amy worked for a leading global professional services company and prior to that, for a British multinational defence company for a number of years, as their in-house employment lawyer.
Serhan has over 26 years’ international experience within the hospitality industry at various levels. He is the General Manager for Pentahotel Ipswich. Serhan is also Deputy Chair of Ipswich and District Hoteliers Association (IDHA). He is enthusiastic about customer service and passionate about the recruitment of talent and their development within the business.
Jo Leah has 30 years experience of financial services industry and has an Executive role at Ipswich Building Society leading on sales and distribution.
Working for a regional financial organisation with an outstanding reputation for social responsibility means Jo is well placed to consider the economic trends, the impacts and opportunities for the local community. Jo is (our) Greater Ipswich representative on the Ipswich Building Preservation Trust board which seeks to preserve the historic assets of the town.
Owner and managing director of Spider, an online recruitment advertising service, Michelle Pollard represents fellow local business owners, having a genuine understanding of the realities of running a smaller, local company. Michelle has been in the recruitment industry, locally and nationally for over 28 years, and has helped reshape this saturated industry. A devoted supporter of the local community, Michelle is passionate about helping local and national businesses find recruitment solutions that work for them. Over the last 4 years, as well as establishing Spider, Michelle has become Vice Chair of The Suffolk Skills Show, Inward Investment Ambassador and Board Member of Suffolk Business Women.
David Redhead was born in Ipswich and is Chairman of BSP International Foundations, a manufacturer of construction equipment, where he has worked for 40 years. Over 90% of the turnover is exported and David has been to over 85 countries in pursuit of business. He was a past President of Suffolk Chamber where he sat for 18 years.
Mike Sorhaindo Dipscm NEBOSH is currently the Centre Manager of The Sailmakers Shopping Centre in Ipswich Town Centre and has been a loyal servant to them for the last 23 years consolidating upon a successful background in Retail Management spanning 16 years in store management for industry giant Tesco Stores Ltd.
Mike has been a long serving champion of the Town, serving on numerous panels and management groups representing the Town Centre helping to shape its development over the last 23 years. He currently sits on the Advisory Panel reporting to the Main Board for Ipswich Central the (BID Company) serving the Town Centre.
He is passionate about Ipswich and its people and continues to work with many stakeholders to deliver excellence in marketing, retail excellence and shopper experience initiatives for all who visit and work in Ipswich.
Mike holds a Diploma in The Institute of Shopping Centre Management and NEBOSH and IOSH Health and Safety accreditations.
He is also a champion of Sustainability initiatives within his own industry and was awarded the accolade of ‘Energy Efficiency Champion’ at the East Of England Energy Efficiency Awards in 2019 and also was awarded the Shopping Centre Manager of the Year at the Shopping Centre industry Awards scheme -Sceptre in 2016 for his best practice within the industry.
Fiona is the Marketing Director for Ipswich Central, the town's Business Improvement District (BID) company which has been instrumental in providing the Vision for Ipswich alongside key partners, including the Chamber. Fiona is also Joint Managing Director of CMS - a place management consultancy which works with a variety of locations up and down the country.
