Course Title: QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

 

Course Aims:

The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and

practical competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations and/or take on the role

of emergency first aider in the workplace.

 

 

Requalification Requirements:

This QA Level 3 Award in EmergencyFirst Aid at Work (RQF) is valid for a period of 3 years, within which time the delegate will need to re-take the course and the assessments in order to remain qualified

 

 

The Delegate will:

  1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  2. Be able to assess an incident
  3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
  4. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
  5. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
  6. Know how provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
  7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

 

Course Assessment:

There are assessment tools to make sure learners gain the required knowledge, skills and understanding, as detailed in the learning outcomes and assessment criteria:

 

1.       Practical assessments – observed by the Trainer throughout the course, with the results of each learning outcome recorded on the practical assessment paperworkThere are 4 practical assessments for this qualification 1. CPR and safe use of an AED 2. Choking casualty 3. Unconscious casualty 4. Wounds, bleeding and shock

 

2.         Formative assessments – a range of informal assessment procedures employed by the Trainer/Assessor during the learning process to measure each Learner’s knowledge, skills and understanding related to the assessment criteria

 

3.        Theory assessment/multiple choice question papers –there is 1 paper per unit for each Learner and Learners should answer all the questions under ‘examination’ conditions maximum time allowed for is 25 minutes minimum mark is 11 out of 15 in order to be considered for an overall ‘Pass’
