Richard has considerable expertise both as a Managing Director and at an operational management level in a range of commercial sectors including finance, business development, retail, property and the automotive industries.
As Managing Director of Northgate PLC, in East Anglia, he successfully led the company’s operations for 12 years, opening multiple depots across the region and directing the company through the Investors in People programme. In 2001, he became Director then Marketing and Membership Manager of Foundation East, a leading finance company, looking after businesses in the East of England. Richard had a short period working back in the motor industry before joining the New Anglia Growth Hub at its inception in 2014.
After working for five years as its Senior Business Adviser until August 2019, Richard re-joined the team as Growth Hub Manager in February 2020. As a result of his varied commercial experience, he is now responsible for guiding and supporting the team of advisers and office-based personnel, developing the Hub’s programmes and ensuring that the business support provided remains impartial and relevant.
Mohammed is an experienced business consultant with an MBA and an MSc from the University of East Anglia. He is also qualified as a Management Consultant from the Institute of Consulting and has over 10 years of diverse working experience in both private and public sectors.
Mohammed has held management positions in the banking sector, focusing on financial reporting and compliance, as well as holding senior positions in tenders and contracts auditing in the public sector since 2008.
Mohammed started his consulting career focusing on business growth, working with clients locally and internationally. He is an entrepreneur at heart and enjoys working with businesses in their initial stages, having helped launch dozens of start-ups in various sectors, taking them from concept and research stage to commercialisation.
Helen brings experience from financial services, marketing, operations, hospitality and the charity sector. She holds several marketing qualifications, trained as a Salesforce Administrator and stays current with regular online courses. Helen’s responsibilities within the Growth Hub start with managing the monthly financial processes for the ERDF and HM Government funding streams, taking the lead for operational and administrative activities and providing IT, HR and provisions support.
After completing a BEd degree, Mick joined the Army (The Green Howards) and served in a range of operational and staff appointments worldwide. Since then, he has completed HR and training appointments in both the public and private sectors, as well as serving concurrently in the, then, TA and as Commandant of Essex Army Cadet Force. His most significant achievement to date was to be awarded the OBE on behalf of the Team he was proud to lead at the MCTC, in Colchester. This is Mick’s second spell based at Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, having managed the highly productive and successful Employer Training Incentive Pilot (ETIP) 2015 – 2017.
In 2015 Jamie graduated from university with a degree in Graphic Design. To gain some work experience, he secured a job as an Online Shopper at Sainsbury’s. He progressed to become a self-employed Graphic Designer and worked part time for a design agency based in Ipswich for two years. Jamie joined the New Anglia Growth Hub in 2018 and is aiming to work towards his SFEDI qualification in the near future.
Kate joined the Growth Hub in 2016 as a Business Growth Adviser.
Kate helps businesses in South Norfolk make the most of the business support that is available both locally and nationally. She helps businesses access grant schemes, train and develop and staff, and get the right advice to help them grow.
Kate has multi-industry experience across a range of sectors and exposure to businesses globally.
Jo spent many years working for her family’s outside catering business ‘Diana Barnard catering’. During her mid-twenties, she took a break in hospitality and joined the Government department Oversea Development Administration as a logistics consultant; who seconded her to UNHCR in former Yugoslavia and then UNICEF in Rwanda during the Genocide. Upon Jo’s return to the UK, she had a short spell in logistics before returning to the family business in 2001. The business was rebranded to Barnard Catering Ltd and Jo continued to work for the company during busy spells whilst also working for local marketing guru’s Helen Oldfield and Gina Long.
Educated to degree level and with a CIM Marketing diploma, Fiona’s career began in the private sector, with a strong grounding in public relations, marketing and corporate communications.
She has a wide ranging skill set, encompassing career success in an innovative travel technology business, through to the corporate world of a FTSE 100 listed company. Fiona has also worked in the public sector, as an Economic Development Officer at District Council level, aiding and encouraging businesses to bring economic success to their own organisations and the local economy.
Fiona was a key player in the development of the Suffolk Coast Ltd Destination Management Organisation, working with the team of local businesses and the public sector, to establish this key sector organisation.
Fiona has previously held the position of Vice Chair of the Heritage Coast Local Action Group, in Suffolk.
Sam joined the Growth Hub in 2016 as a Business Growth Adviser.
Sam helps businesses in Ipswich make the most of the business support that is available both locally and nationally. She helps businesses access grant schemes, train and develop and staff, and get the right advice to help them grow.
Sam has a broad range of experience, including working within the education, care and manufacturing sectors as well as setting up a small business.
In November 2019, Sam became Senior Business Adviser, managing the Suffolk team of advisers, and is responsible for ensuring the smooth and consistent delivery of quality business support.
Fiona has spent more than 15 years leading teams in sales, gaining a wealth of knowledge within the fashion, insurance, energy, manufacturing and distribution sectors.
Through working in diverse environments, she has developed the skills to build solid client relationships and cultivate strategic alliances with partners, vendors and colleagues, helping to develop and support key business initiatives.
Fiona is happiest when she is helping others and thinking outside of the box. She believes sharing best practice is, and always will be, the best way to learn and grow both professionally and personally.
Neil moved to Norwich in 1999 to help set up the first Reed office in the city, managing the corporate branch to support local businesses in the financial sector.
Neil’s driven and ambitious nature enables him to tackle, with confidence, any challenge faced. In his career, he’s helped clients navigate through a range of difficult situations, even finding a qualified management accountant who was fluent in English, German and Polish! He’s recruited franchises into a network of accountants and has managed clients’ training needs, assessing their eligibility and matching apprenticeship applicants to their requirements.
Neil has worked with large corporations to small businesses, in both the public and private sectors, and enjoys helping them to grow and reach their goals.
Glen joined the Growth Hub in 2014 as a Business Growth Adviser.
Glen helps businesses on the ‘all energy coast’ including Lowestoft and Gt Yarmouth make the most of the business support that is available both locally and nationally. He helps businesses access grant schemes, train and develop and staff, and get the right advice to help them grow.
He has 12 years’ experience advising businesses in this region primarily in the field of skills and workforce development.
Glen became Senior Business Adviser for Norfolk in November 2019, leading the county’s team of advisers and ensuring that excellent business support is consistently provided.
Sharna has worked for the Growth Hub since 2017 and is a Business Growth Support Adviser working with the field based advisers in Suffolk.
As part of the support team based at the Growth Hub central office, Sharna is responsible for the effective management of enquiries providing telephone support to diagnose client needs, provide relevant information advice and referral in a triage role ensuring clients get the most appropriate support.
Margaret (Mags) has worked for the Growth Hub in 2014 and is a Business Growth Support Adviser working with the field based advisers in Norfolk.
As part of the support team based at the Growth Hub central office, Mags is responsible for the effective management of enquiries providing telephone support to diagnose client needs, provide relevant information advice and referral in a triage role ensuring clients get the most appropriate support.
Mags holds a SFEDI Level 6 Award in Understanding Business and Enterprise Support.
Morgan is a Business Growth Adviser for Innovation along Norfolk’s A11 corridor. Morgan has operated his own business consultancy company for the past five years with a remit of advising on business growth and exit strategies. He was a business adviser with ibd (Initiatives in Business Development) and has a DBA in Strategic Management from Aston University and two MBAs.
Morgan is keen to engage with businesses to provide the guidance and support needed and to help build best practice across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Sue has worked for all sizes and nature of organisations, from global to family run business, covering sectors from education to manufacturing, sports and leisure and tourism. She has not only managed marketing and events over the last 20 plus years, but also used her Business and Finance Degree to develop experience with in commercial development management, procurement and buying. This breadth of experience brings a diverse range of skills and experiences which she is looking to bring to supporting SMEs in Norfolk and Suffolk within her role at the New Anglia Growth Hub.
Chris has worked for the Growth Hub since 2014 as a Business Growth Adviser.
Chris helps businesses in South West Norfolk make the most of the business support that is available both locally and nationally. He helps businesses access grant schemes, train and develop and staff, and get the right advice to help them grow.
Qualified to SFEDI level 7 in business support, Chris is able to guide clients through the maze of opportunities available and pinpoint the support that can help them move forward with a particular project or phase of growth.
David joined the Growth Hub in 2017 as a Business Growth Adviser.

Robert joined the Growth Hub in 2014 as a Business Growth Adviser.
Robert helps businesses in South Suffolk make the most of the business support that is available both locally and nationally. He helps businesses access grant schemes, train and develop and staff, and get the right advice to help them grow.
Robert is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs.
Jess has been a marketing professional for over 5 years, gaining a strong skill set within the photography, retail, local government and charity sectors. With a flair for writing and a passion for all things digital, she enjoys all aspects of marketing, from the strategic to the creative, as well as being skilled in website and graphic design. Jess joined the Growth Hub in February 2019 and manages the marketing, PR and websites, as well as supporting the Events team.
