Chamber Policy Group Tackles Key Challenges: Water Scarcity, EV Charging, and Recycled Plastic Roads in Focus at Suffolk Chamber Net Zero & Climate Adaptation Meeting

Attendees at this week’s (14 November) Suffolk Chamber Net Zero & Climate Adaptation Group were rewarded with insights from three leading business influencers covering some of the key issues that need to be addressed to deliver the county’s longer-term net zero ambitions.

The Net Zero & Climate Adaptation Group is one of Suffolk Chamber’s seven policy development forums, providing opportunities for members to learn from each other, hold government decision-makers to account and help shape the Chamber’s ongoing lobbying campaigns.

The other groups are Transport & Infrastructure, People & Skills, International Trade, Economy, Social Value and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.

Chaired by Richard Buckingham, this week’s Net Zero & Climate Adaptation Group considered presentations from:

• Dr. Geoff Darch of Anglian Water into plans to manage water supply to both domestic and non-domestic users in the face of climate change
• Esme Yuill of Transport East into the organisation’s research on the region’s current low EV charging capacity and
• Chris Fallon of Roadfill who outlined how his company manufactures recycled plastics into pellets for use in new road materials

Richard Buckingham said: “This was a fascinating meeting with lots of knowledge transfer and business connections being made. There was also a number of clear asks for the Chamber to take a lead on, not least in working with the water companies to ensure businesses are able to adapt to a future defined by water use reductions and exploring options for a possible EV charge point sharing scheme.”
