A Suffolk-based global supply chain solutions partner has joined 18 other senior organisations to become the latest patron of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, the voice of business in the county.

Metro Supply Chain acquired Bury St Edmunds based Century Logistics in March 2022 and is a global company incorporating 98 sites across America and Europe. The company provides end-to-end logistics services to their customers ranging from warehousing, contract packing, ecommerce fulfilment, product repairs, returns management and delivery to customer.

The newly integrated business includes thirteen facilities across England and Wales, with eight strategically located between the UK’s Golden Triangle and busy port of Felixstowe, handling a diverse range of products from cycles to dried flowers, ballet shoes to beer.

Metro Supply Chain joins a select group of leading businesses who lend their support to the development of the region's economy and business community, with the patrons list including Anglian Water, Associated British Ports, Birketts, BT, Cory Brothers, EUROAPI, Greater Anglia, The Jockey Club, Kier, RSM, Sackers, Sizewell C, Suffolk New College, Tarmac Group, University of Suffolk, Vertas Group, West Suffolk College and WTW.

Suffolk Chamber’s patron scheme is a strategic partnership between an organisation and the Chamber, allowing those to take advantage of Suffolk Chamber’s highly influential connections with business, media and political leaders, helping to influence policy at a national level and many other benefits.

Stuart Ager, VP and managing director at Metro Supply Chain, commented: “We are delighted and proud to become Patrons and are looking forward to working alongside Suffolk’s successful businesses at such an exciting time for the region.

“The success of Felixstowe, investment in the Sizewell C, Freeport East and the skilled local workforce means Suffolk has a bright future and we are pleased to part of it.

Our business originated and grew in Suffolk and the county will remain a key area for us as we adapt and grow our business nationally.”

John Dugmore, chief executive of Suffolk Chamber, welcomed Metro Supply Chain’s decision: “The logistics sector is a fast growing and significant presence in the county’s business community, especially along the nationally important A14 Growth Corridor.

“We are delighted that Metro Supply Chain, one of the largest and most innovative players in the sector, has stepped up its involvement with Suffolk Chamber to become our latest patron. This will give the company maximum access to our lobbying and engagement work both locally and at a Westminster and Whitehall level.

“I look forward to working with Stuart Ager and his team, by helping them to extend their reach in front of leading influencers and policy makers. We also look forward to their strategic input into our many campaigning themes including those being delivered by Transport & Infrastructure, People & Skills, Net Zero, International Trade and Economy thematic groups.”
