Economy

Suffolk needs a strong and robust economy bringing prosperity across the county.  Our members must be at the heart of that growth which will create jobs and wealth.

The economic environment in which business operates is changing.  The New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership has been established to facilitate and champion economic growth in Suffolk and Norfolk.  Local Authorities will have smaller budgets, but a greater capacity to shape the agenda.  Government support for new business will be replaced at the end of 2011.

Suffolk Chamber recognises the many opportunities arising out of the new business landscape.  There will be challenges to ensure the creation of a business-friendly environment, therefore, whilst working with key stakeholders as constructive partners, Suffolk Chamber will be determined to provide a business perspective, stimulating economic growth and in turn creating jobs and wealth.

Our three economic priorities will be:

LEPs – we will work in partnership with the New Anglia LEP to ensure business in Suffolk is at the heart of the economic development decision making process in Suffolk and Norfolk.

Business rates – we will work with and support our members to ensure the new arrangements for business rates benefit the local economy and local industry.

Solutions for Business – we will work with the replacement for Business Link and ensure the Chamber uses its expertise to deliver priority services to its members.

The British Chambers of Commerce Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) has been running for many years and is a valued and high profile survey.
