Suffolk’s business brains in £1 million challenge
18 Feb 2010
Youth charity The Prince's Trust is challenging Suffolk’s business brains to compete in a £1 million national enterprise competition to support more young people into business.
The Million Makers challenge will see teams battling it out with organisations across the country to raise the most money. The cash will go towards supporting young entrepreneurs on The Trust’s Business Programme.
Groups will strive to come up with the most lucrative business idea and run their own mini enterprises to raise money to change young lives.
The challenge is also open to organisations as a staff development opportunity to enhance team work, communications skills and leadership qualities.
Justine Ruggles, The Prince’s Trust East of England Head of Commercial Services said: “With Suffolk’s budding entrepreneurs behind us, we can help more young people into business. Nurturing entrepreneurial talent is now more important than ever. This year we had teams participating from some of the County's leading organisations, including Suffolk County Council, Adnams and BlueFin Insurance – and I hope Suffolk will come up with even more companies this year.”
Million Makers 2010 is the largest employee fundraising initiative in the history of The Prince’s Trust. The Business Programme has helped more than 70,000 young people into business since 1983 and needs £1million every month to continue its vital work.

I started my new business, www.crystalcombinations.co.uk , one year ago, designing and handmaking jewellery, and have been delighted with the way the business has been progressing. The Christmas period was a very busy and exciting time for me, and now at the beginning of the year I am looking forward to getting well ahead with preparations for the forthcoming year. I love semi-precious stones and in my designs I mainly combine these with other materials such as Swarovski crystals and Swarovski pearls.
