QDOS wins prestigious award from global communications leader Avaya

31 Mar 2011
QDOS Communications Ltd, a Suffolk company and one of the UK’s leading specialist telecoms suppliers to the hospitality industry, has received a prestigious accolade from Avaya, a global leader in enterprise communications systems. At the annual Avaya Partner Conference on 1st March 2011, QDOS received the ‘SME Achievement’ award.
Avaya employs approximately 19,000 people worldwide, including around 3,400 research and development professionals. It has approximately 5,400 patents or patents pending and 9,200 channel partners worldwide. Each year, the ‘SME Achievement’ award is presented to ‘A distributor or reseller partner that has excelled in leading with Avaya in the SME market segment - driving market share and awareness for Avaya, building significant incremental revenues or perhaps a creative approach to winning with Avaya in this space’.
Niall Anderson, Avaya’s Regional Channel Director, UK & Ireland stated: “We chose QDOS to win this award because the company has established a unique niche in the UK; significantly accelerating Avaya’s growth in the hospitality vertical market in the past four years whilst providing exceptional levels of ongoing customer service and support. The QDOS team have worked closely with Azlan, a leading UK Avaya distribution partner, and TigerTMS an Avaya DevConnect software development partner that specialises in hotel front-of-house software, to develop a compelling offer for big brand, mid-size and boutique hotels. This has enabled the Avaya IP Office platform to meet the ‘brand standards’ of international hotel groups such as Intercontinental, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, achieving outstanding penetration into this specialist industry.”
QDOS has successfully installed the Avaya IP Office platform in over 100 UK Hotels (displacing more established platforms such as Mitel, Siemens and Alcatel Systems) where, not only has it competed favourably in terms of functionality, it has proven to be a far less expensive solution for hotel owners.
Simon Catterick, QDOS Managing Director commented: “We completed an MBO for £1,100,000 in August 2010, and since then have consolidated QDOS’ position as a leading specialist provider of telecoms and data to the UK hospitality industry, as well as SMEs in a variety of different sectors. This award is further acknowledgement of our continuing success and we’re extremely proud to have been honoured by Avaya in this way.
“Hotels need to keep abreast of rapidly developing technological advancements to differentiate and improve their guests’ experience. We work with established clients and new owner/operators for the provision of a 'total IT solution', such as telephone & IT systems; hospitality software; EPoS applications; television, media equipment and content; and Tiered Guest Internet services.
“As in all sectors, hotel owners and operators are looking for ways to reduce capital expenditure. However they’re also looking to technology to help differentiate them from their competitors in a multitude of ways such as: using advertising on bedroom handsets; iPad applications; DECT & Wireless technology. Using the Avaya IP Office system we’re enabling our clients to reduce the cost of ownership of a telephone system that meets their brand standards, provides a fully functional platform, and a flexible and inexpensive upgrade path for future developments.”
