Birketts is delighted to announce the arrival of Georgia Maltezou and the return of Lisa Wortley, to their shipping and logistics team based in Ipswich.  Birketts are also pleased to announce Lisa’s promotion to Associate.

Georgia, a Greek qualified lawyer, joins Birketts from the Greek office of an International Group P&I Club.  She has experience in FD&D, P&I and personal injury claims.  Georgia studied Maritime Law at City University in London, where she achieved a distinction.  As well as speaking fluent Greek, Georgia also speaks Italian and French.

Lisa has extensive experience in charterparty and cargo disputes.  She has assisted in numerous High Court freezing orders.  Lisa also has particular expertise in speed and consumption claims.  She is regularly consulted by leading ocean routing companies on the subject.  Lisa also speaks French.

Nicholas Woo, head of shipping and logistics at Birketts LLP, commented "With the addition of Georgia and the return of Lisa, the Birketts’ Shipping Team now consists of three partners, two associates, two assistants and one consultant.

We are delighted with Georgia's arrival and Lisa's return, as part of our continued strategy of building the strength and depth of the team, and our aim to continue to provide a high quality, cost effective alternative to the London firms.  This recruitment strategy continues and we would be delighted to hear from shipping lawyers who would like to do city shipping work, outside the city."
