netXtra puts the National Garden Gift Vouchers website into pockets with their new Mobile App

11 Jan 2012

As the name suggests, the “app” allows users to find their closest garden centre, nursery or garden retail outlet through which the Gift Vouchers may be obtained and spent. netXtra were chosen for this project as they have experience in providing similar mobile web applications for other clients.

This app is the first to be launched for the HTA in a suite of requirements for a total "mobile solution". This proven approach provides the opportunity to develop a full range of products in a phased manner - subsequent phases of the project could add potential native iPhone, Android and BlackBerry versions. In addition to providing information about the National Garden Gift Voucher scheme (through content managed pages), the app has features such as "search by postcode", "radial search" (within distance parameters) and "search by facilities available" (e.g. disabled access, restaurant/cafe, aquatics, pets, etc). Bookmarking utilities can also be implemented within the app offering users an “Add to Home Screen” message.

This proven netXtra approach provides the HTA with a cost-effective working mobile solution to be deployed quickly, without having to go through the process of submitting the app within each vendor’s store while allowing it to be refined accordingly before being submitted to Apple’s AppStore, Android Market, or BlackBerry AppWorld.

As well as helping the HTA market its members to the general public, the mobile app also brings the
popular gift item to an up-to-date medium befitting a modern, leading-edge trade association.
