10 Golden Rules of Fire Safety
1) Keep all escape routes clear of both obstructions and combustibles.
2) Keep fire doors shut when not in use. Close all doors if the fire alarm activates (and windows if time and safe to quickly do so).
3) Always maintain good housekeeping at your place of work.
4) Be aware of all your escape routes and respect all fire equipment.
5) Raise the alarm immediately if you discover a fire or signs of a fire e.g. smoke.
6) Follow the fire procedures for your building or area.
7) In an emergency always use the nearest available exit.
8) Only use the fire-fighting equipment if you have been trained and it is safe to do so.
9) Do not stop to collect personal belongings, use lifts, or re-enter the building until told it is safe.
10) Attend annual staff fire training sessions.
Remember: FIRE SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY!
