The future entrepreneurs and leaders of business in Suffolk have spoken of the importance of leadership, confidence and experience to building a successful local economy.

Alexis Cameron and Liam Burrows have both graduated from the UCS Foundation Degree in Business programme, which is supported by the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. The Foundation Degree is becoming widely recognised as a fundamental building block for the business leaders of the future.

“The emphasis on hard work, business success and leadership are key themes that runs through the whole Foundation Degree,” said Alexis Cameron who is a Senior Project Manager for BT and who completed the Foundation Degree at the end of 2011.

“To get the opportunity to really work on strategy and how to apply it in the world of business is invaluable,” Alexis continued. “It has also meant that my confidence has been boosted and my work and commitment to BT has grown.”

Alexis was joined by Liam Burrows, a Planning and Procurement Manager from international manufacturing specialists Genevac whose UK base is in Ipswich.

“Out of all the education I have undertaken, the Foundation Degree with its hard work and commitment is by far the most relevant to business,” Liam said. “Genevac really got behind me and worked with me to ensure the demands of the course were manageable with my busy full-time job.”

“Alexis and Liam are another two examples of why the Foundation Degree is as successful and influential as it is,” said the Chief Executive of Suffolk Chamber John Dugmore. “We’re supporting it as it is making a real difference to business now and to the business leaders of tomorrow.”
