Message from Suffolk Constabulary as Christmas approaches

07 Dec 2011
As Christmas approaches Suffolk Constabulary are actively campaigning to increase awareness of the consequences of irresponsible drinking other anti-social behaviours. The business community often overlooks these traditional messages and this year Suffolk Police wish to reinforce the link between campaigns targeted at the public at large at this time of year and the impact on business. All business will be alert to the impact of the season in staffing terms, however, there are also security considerations which need to be re-visited particularly as a consequence of both the shorter daytime hours and potential increase in visitor traffic.
It is a good time of the year to review and risk assess the following elements of your business:
- Security of premises, including visitor policy and control
- CCTV equipment and intruder alarms particularly familiarisation with their use, state of repair and effectiveness in terms of positioning and test and backup procedures
- Stock control and security
- Staff contact arrangements
- Fire exit and evacuation procedures
Don’t let your business suffer losses through lack of attention to detail.
Suffolk Constabulary wish you all a safe and secure Christmas.
