Ipswich Waterfront - proposed traffic management revisions

04 Jan 2012
You may be aware that Suffolk County Council (SCC) is currently investigating traffic management options along the Waterfront, now that their rights of way status has been confirmed. SCC has previously engaged with Waterfront residents and businesses on its proposals and took the opportunity to consult the general public on one of two traffic management options, at the 'Ipswich Fit for the 21st Century' exhibition, held at Tower Ramparts between the 12 and 19 October 2011. The waterfront proposals consultation ran for six weeks, ending on 25 November, with the public being encouraged to complete a questionnaire in hard copy or online, via the SCC website.
The PDF files below set out the two options that were consulted on:
and the survey link is provided below:

Over 200 responses have been received, with ten of these coming from Waterfront businesses. The County Council believes there may be other Waterfront businesses that would be directly impacted by its future traffic management proposals and would like to hear from those businesses that rely on the quayside roads for their loading and unloading requirements. If you are one of these businesses and are able to attend the next Waterfront Business Forum, officers from Ipswich Borough Council and SCC will be present to hear and record your views. The Forum will be held at the Pizza Express restaurant opposite the Old Custom House on 23 January, between 11am and 12:30pm.
If you are not directly affected by the proposed traffic regulation orders, but would still like to make your views known, you are welcome to attend the meeting. Alternatively, if any of you cannot attend the meeting please complete the survey above or submit your comments in writing to:-
